In 2016, he began working as a freelancer focusing on web analytics and data science. During this time, he also gained extensive experience as a blockchain engineer, which led him to found Stella-X Inc. in January 2018. He currently operates “island,” an innovative social networking application centered around personal coin issuance.

After graduating from university, Hikaru joined Fujitsu Limited, where he was assigned to the finance and accounting division. While working in this division, He gained experience in various business areas and departments. With a consistent focus on finance and accounting, He provided advisory services for business strategy formulation and operations. Additionally, he was involved in new business development and the establishment of affiliated companies, taking on roles such as company management, operations, and statutory auditing.

After leaving the company in 2019, he served as a concurrent executive officer at a patent attorney firm. While primarily overseeing administrative divisions, he also advanced initiatives related to the overall management of the firm, including patent administration.

He holds an MBA from Waseda University Graduate School of Business.

Before joining Waseda University as a faculty member in 2002, he had been working as a CPA at Tohmatsu & Co., which is a member firm of Deloitte & Co. and as an independent financial consultant. He performed various kinds of projects, such as auditing, IPO consulting, M&A consulting, management control system consulting and training for managers in many Japanese companies. He is also an outside directors or audit & supervisory board member of several listed companies in Japan.

After graduated from university, Tom joined SBS Holdings and engaged in IT business development for 5 years. He experienced the company’s IPO and stock listing process (TSE:2384).

He established ZESTUS Co., Ltd., which operates M&A matching business specialized in internet business (Deals: Information website, Online shop, Revenue business, Affiliate site, etc.) in 2006. He has over 10 years of experiences in Web-based brokerage business.

Tom established M&A professional firm WASEDA M&A PARTNERS Co., Ltd. with MBA alumni in 2017. This new firm’s mission is to create Venture-Ecosystem and to lead Japanese venture entrepreneurs to a new way of life that means the existence of Serial-Entrepreneurs. He has published a book “M&A Exit to Become a Serial Entrepreneur” to fulfill the mission. 110 M&A brokerage contracts in total(from July 2006 to August 2019).

He holds a BS from Tsukuba University, an MBA from Waseda University Graduate School of Business. Designated as a strategic consulting partner of Mitsubishi UFJ Research & Consulting since 2011. Received the 11th M&A Forum Award Selection Committee Special Award in 2017.
